The A.J. Julian Scholarship trust was established in 1969 by Velda J. Klamet in memory of her family.  The income from the principal will be used in assisting one male Webster City High School graduating senior in his higher education at some accredited college or university in the United States for a period of two years.
The “male only” criteria as stated in the original will was reconfirmed by the courts in 1988 to be legal.

1. The recipient must be a current graduating Webster City HS male senior.
2. The recipient will be selected based on achieved academic excellence, civic responsibilities, school leadership, financial need and personal letter to the committee.

The WCHS Common Application is used for this scholarship.
On your resume be sure to include the following, if applicable: WCHS extracurricular activities, clubs and organizations you have been involved with during high school; community and/or other activities, clubs and organizations you have been involved with during high school; leadership roles you have held during high school; honors and/or awards you have received during high school; and any work experience you have had during high school.

In your letter to the scholarship committee, be sure to prove that you have paid attention to the criteria for that scholarship.  For example, if the scholarship requires you to go into a medical field, be sure that you write about your plans in that area.  Also, if the scholarship criteria includes specific characteristics like financial need or civic responsibility, make sure you talk about that in your letter as well.
